New report highlights ways states are advancing in clean energy
Renewable energy is still on the rise and in the minds of more and more people around the United States. A new report titled “Clean Energy Champions: The Importance of State Programs and Policies” released by The Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA), a nonprofit coalition of state agencies and public organizations that work to advance clean energy, is a first look at the ways that states are advancing in clean energy and suggests how to continue this growth. Some of the highlighted areas of the report include 31 case studies in 22 states, researching several state programs like renewable portfolio standards, rebates for purchasing solar panels, and wind energy tax credits.
This report identifies several lessons for continued renewable energy growth by carefully examining the state’s role in clean energy development over the past 15 years. Some of these key areas where states made significant progress include developing the clean energy supply, overcoming barriers by building the infrastructure for clean energy growth, building a vibrant clean energy industry and protecting and including consumers.
“Over the past decade and a half, states across the country have implemented innovative policies that have achieved significant measurable results,” said Warren Leon, Executive Director of CESA. “This report clearly outlines how renewable energy production has far surpassed expectations and created a thriving clean energy sector. We must sustain this momentum by supporting various initiatives at the state level, working in tandem with federal agencies, and advancing clean energy with continued bipartisan support.”
