Why should I go Solar?
It's actually quite simple, solar saves money and it's one of the best home improvements/investments you can make. Not only will you save money every year, but Solar also Increases your home’s value without increasing your property tax . The average home owner will save tens of thousands of dollar by investing in a solar energy system.
Installing Solar on your property has the following benefits:
Reduces your energy bills for 25+ years.
Gives you a great return on your investment through the Government’s Tax Credits
and Utility Cash rebates.
Protects you against future electricity price increases.
Increases the value of your home.
Reduces your carbon footprint.
Solar systems are virtually maintenance free.
How does the electricity spread through the home?
The electricity produced by solar panels is a particular type of electricity known
as DC – ‘direct current’. However, we use a different type in
our homes, known as AC – ‘alternating current’. To convert the
electricity into the required form, we use an additional device, called an inverter.
The inverter constantly monitors the electricity coming in from the grid, and then
modifies the DC produced by the solar panels to match it perfectly. A single AC
wire is run in a direction determined on the site survey directly to your main service
panel (fuse box) onto a single circuit breaker.
How can I use my Solar electricity?
The electricity generated by the Solar system is automatically used directly
to power your house (lights, television, appliances, etc). Any excess is sold straight
back to your supplier; you don’t need to do anything. The utility company
will then credit your account for the energy put back into the grid.
How do clouds affect generation?
Solar Panels operate on light, rather than heat, so even if the day seems cool –
if there is light, the system will be generating electricity. PV systems will therefore
generate electricity all year round. Nevertheless, the output will fluctuate seasonally,
with the most electricity being produced in the bright summer months.
How do I know if a Solar system is suitable for my home?
Solar panels are suitable for both urban and rural locations and are adaptable
to almost any building which has sufficient exposure to light. Typically, solar
PV panels are mounted on a pitched roof; however they can also be mounted on a flat
roof or on the ground.
